What do we mean by “Decolonisation”?
Decolonisation is a multi-pronged process of liberation from political, economic and cultural colonisation. It involves removing the anchors of colonialism from the physical, ecological and mental processes of a nation and its people (Decolonization and Afro-Feminism – Sylvia Tamale). Decolonisation has a theoretical underpinning, but it is not merely a metaphor; it is practical and has practical actions and impacts (Decolonization is not a metaphor by Tuck and Yang).
