storytelling

Storytelling is the practice of sharing the experiences of a person, family, or community. It can include audible or spoken storytelling (in linear, poetic, or sung/musical form), written storytelling (including essays, creative nonfiction, or poetry), visual art (painting, drawing, sculpture, or photography, for example), movement (sign, dance, or theatre), or some combination of the above. Storytelling can be part of healing, education, awareness, activism, and entertainment, although different spaces and contexts are more suited to each of these goals. Storytelling is a way people with lived experience can express their hopes, grief, dreams, and needs, and their choice to share their experiences (and in what format or space) should always be their own.
